This game is too much fun, it's addicting...Whether or not that is a excellent thing is your discretion. It is most fun to play with friends, even if you only own one guitar. I can't count how many times a group of my friends just sat in a dorm room playing this game, trying to one-up the other people score. It doesn't ever get dull, especially because of the downloadable content.

Which leads to one complaint I must state: the amount they charge for the downloadable songs. Sure there are quite a few free songs, but the margin of them you have to pay for and they are about $6 or $7 for a 3-song pack. If you want to buy all the downloadable content you better be ready to shell out some cash. The game disc does have over 70 songs on it so the downloadable stuff isn't absolutely de rigueur.

The only other downfall with this game would have to be the controller. I prefer the wired controller because you don't have to worry about batteries which can get pricey over time. But, and this plagues just about all guitar hero guitars (wired or wireless), there durability. They get worn very quick because people play them hard. I hit the fret buttons very hard and they have ongoing to have problems. Other people nag about the whammy bar apt worn out. And irregularly it seems like the controllers just don't register.

Regardless of these two complaints, the game still has provided me with more than enough satisfaction and was certainly worth purchasing.

this game is definatly one of my favorites, the best thing is on xbox the guitar will play on rockband as well. on ps3 but it will not work on both games. i have loved this game for the last month and still am not tired of playing it. if you like rock music this will keep you busy for a while. and after you get tired of the songs you can download more on xbox live. i got the wired translation i recommend you get the wireless. the wires drive me crazy. i rate this game high on my list, and its fun for all ages...
The kids like it

This was my first guitar hero buy. I like the game so much that I went back and bought GHII. The graphics are better than GHII and it has a lot of really fantastic songs. It seems harder than number two so be up for a challenge.
Worth every penny!

I had been coming up for my son to save enough money to buy guitar hero III because I wanted to play it too. When I saw the deal on Amazon, I chose to buy it myself. It is perfectly addicting! All in our family from age 8 to age 45 like it! I would also recommmend buying an additional guitar to go head to head.
